Fourth Sunday Community Meal
Each fourth Sunday of the month, Mt. Tam Church spreads out an old-fashioned church potluck for folks in our community who otherwise might not have a hot meal that day. Church members and community folks from all parts of Marin County are served and then sit down together for lunch and conversation. We're told our food is among the best served in the County! (At least, we like to think so!!)
Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (REST) Care
During the Winter months many Marin faith communities house and feed people without homes in the severe weather. Mt. Tam Church provides several Sunday night meals for the men who stay at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Food Bank Ministry
Every Sunday the Mt. Tam Church congregation brings canned goods and non perishables for the Marin Food Bank which our children collect for the offering. Thousands of pounds of necessary food is given every year.
Mission Outreach Project
Our Annual Holiday Bazaar is moving in a new direction! Join us Sundays, Nov. 12 & 19, from 11:30-12:30 for a chance to purchase holiday gifts and goodies to support the United Methodist Women, Heifer Project and Imagine No Malaria. Pitch in to help make disaster kits for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).
Kids' Craft Nights - Imagine No Malaria
The children of the church gather for craft nights throughout the year to create handmade items to sell over the holiday season. The kids host their very own booth at the Mission Outreach Project to sell their handmade items, raising money for "Imagine No Malaria." Proceeds benefit those in countries affected by malaria by providing mosquito nets, education on malaria prevention and other critical items.
Heifer Project Card Making
Each fall, Judy White organizes the children and adults of our congregation in a wonderful art project that serves families around the world. Church folks craft beautiful handmade cards, with holiday and nature themes, which are sold at the church bazaar and other events. The proceeds from the sales go to buy an animal through Heifer International, an organization which provides life-giving livestock for families in poverty in many countries. Last year, the congregation's art offerings bought a whole heifer plus several chickens.
