Dear Mt. Tam Church Family,
I hope that this message finds you well. As we prepare to gather in worship this Sunday, I am excited to share with you the focus of our time together.
This week, we will reflect on the powerful act of confession, a moment where we humbly open our hearts before God. Sometimes we can be led
to believe that confession is all about guilt, but when we examine the
practice carefully, it is really more about honesty and healing. In 1 John 1:5-10, we are reminded that when we confess our sins, God is faithful, cares for us and heals the wounds of our heart and spirit.
Additionally, James 5:16 encourages us to “confess your sins to one
another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” Sharing our burdens with a trusted person in our lives fosters a sense of community and support. In the midst of vulnerability, we find strength, compassion, and understanding.
As we prepare to engage in this discussion on Sunday, let us remember that our God is loving and merciful, ready to embrace us with open arms. Let us remember that we are called to embrace one another in the same way. May our worship be a space of grace and renewal, where we experience the transformative power of God’s forgiveness and the strength found in authentic community. May our time together remind us of ALL of the benefits of confession.
I look forward to being with you soon.
Blessings,
Pastor Luke
