Dear Friends,
First off, I want to let you know that a staffing change is taking place at Mt. Tam UMC. After serving with excellence in the role of Facilities Manager, David Erskine has been invited to take a full-time job outside of the church. Therefore, he needs to step away from his responsibilities as a staff person here at MTUMC. However, David will still be a member of our church so you will still see him around on Sundays! We will be highlighting his great work and having cake to celebrate his contributions here during post-worship fellowship time on Sunday, October 10th.
I am also excited to let you know that our SPRC has offered the responsibilities of the facilities manager position to our wonderful officer manager, Ivania Miranda. These additional responsibilities means that Ivania will now move from a ¾-time employee up to full-time status here at the church. We are so grateful for her willingness to take on this combined role and know she will continue to do great work among us.
Next, I would like to remind you that this Sunday, the Coordinator for the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Steve Elliott, will be with us in worship. After enjoying some heavy and delicious snacks at fellowship time, Steve will be leading a session in the sanctuary focused on the various ways our conference is stepping up to assist those displaced by wildfires and other natural disasters in our region. He will also be sharing how we as a congregation can get more involved. His talk will go from Noon-1pm and I really hope you can be there. There is an RSVP link below but even if you forget to RSVP, please know you are welcome to join us!
Last but not least, I want to let you know that our District Superintendent has informed us that this year’s charge conference for MTUMC will be on October 17th in the sanctuary after worship. Charge Conference is the annual meeting where all members of the church are invited to come and vote on business items such as pastoral compensation, our membership report and nominations report. We also will be discussing our goals and hopes for 2022 and beyond.
I give thanks for all the wonderful things that are taking place among us and all that is yet to come!
In Peace and Joy,
Luke
