Dear Ones,
I hope this message finds you well.
I’d like to invite you to join me in praying for the people affected by the fires on
the Island of Maui. In 2018, Stephanie and I had the opportunity to worship with
the good folks of Lahaina United Methodist Church on a Sunday morning. We have many fond memories of that experience because the church was full of some of the kindest and most welcoming folks we have ever met. This week, that beautiful sanctuary has burned to the ground along with the parsonage and nearly every other structure in that area of the island. In our grief and worry, let us also be a people of hope and kindness who support the rebuilding of that area from the ashes. If you would like to join me in providing a gift to our sister church during this difficult time, you can do so through their website at https://lumcmaui.org/
This Sunday in worship, we will be looking at a passage that includes some words from Jesus that might make you feel a little uncomfortable (as they often can). It will be my goal to explain some potential meanings behind his words as well as remind us of what we might faithfully hope for both in this life and the eternal life yet to come.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
