ADVENT INTO CHRISTMAS…. |
Last weekend was crazy with joy and revelation. Because our worship services are entirely online at this time, we made the decision to prerecord both Christmas Eve services, which will then be edited by Jeff Brown and launched on Facebook at 4 p.m. (children’s service) and 7 p.m. (lessons and carols) on December 24th. About 10 hours of recording later, everything is “in the can.” Which means that Christmas Eve is done. Well, the recording for Christmas Eve is done–but Christmas is never done, right? We continue to venture from Advent into Christmas with the Drive-Thru Nativity from 5-7 this Sunday. We have the go-ahead from the County Health Department for this safe and free and fun event…hope you invite neighbors and come on down yourself. We have Sunday worship with special music and continuing message on practicing hope. One tradition that I have come to love is that your church staff members celebrate the year with a staff holiday luncheon. As with almost everything right now, this year’s event took on that pandemic-adjusted flare: we set up five tables, 10-15 feet apart in the Christmas decorated sanctuary (left over from the video sessions last weekend) with take-out food and our own table- ware and shared the feast together. The video above is our staff members greeting you! Thanks be for Hyunjung, Dave, Tricia and Ivania, whose work through this whole time has held together our ministries. Now the altar is back to Advent for the next two Sundays as we move toward Christmas. May the light of both seasons shine on you and through you. Peace, Kim |
