It’s hard to be a youth today! And it’s really challenging to parent middle and high school youth right now. Mt. Tam Church offers a variety of ways to nurture youth on their journey to adulthood.
Come Join Us!
Youth, grades 7-12, gather on Sunday mornings with a mentoring adult; for fun, fellowship and meaningful conversation. They discuss current events, faith topics and their lives in the context of their Christian faith. On the first Sunday of every month, children and youth, grades 4-12, remain in the service with their families, participate in communion, and are encouraged to take a leadership role in worship.
Youth Group: Faith, Fun & Service
Throughout the school year, youth, grades 6-12, have the opportunity to participate in youth group. We host monthly youth group breakfasts October through May (they do the cooking!) and meet at least once more a month focusing on three areas for our youth: fun, faith learning and service. Examples of recent activities include a service clean up day along the Bay, an interfaith youth gleaning at Green Gulch Farms and a Muslim/Christian dinner with youth and families at The Islamic Center of Mill Valley.
Wednesday After-School Program
All youth from the community, 6th grade and up are welcome to come to our youth room, open from 2:30-4, to hang out, do homework, play games, or have a snack. This is a great place to hang out between school and sports or parents picking up. The room will be supervised by a Mt. Tam Church staff person or adult volunteer, all of whom are background checked. Open during the school year only. Please call the church office to check dates.
Confirmation (Confirm Not Conform, CnC)
Confirmation classes will take place during the 2019-2020 school year, led by Pastor Kim Smith.
Youth, grades 6-12, will have the opportunity to participate in mission trips. Come share your gifts, engage with the community, and learn to see the face of God in yourself and in others.
Youth are encouraged throughout the year to participate in leadership roles both within the congregation and with our children’s ministry program. They serve as craft teachers for children’s events, offer special music or read scripture during worship or become camp counselors during our annual children’s faith-based summer camp program. We invite youth to share their talents and gifts with the church in whatever area they feel called to serve.
