Dear Friends,
Greetings from Leawood, KS! I write to you from the 2021 United Methodist Church Leadership conference where we are reflecting on many important topics such as Racial Justice, Church Revitalization, Mental Health, and the future of our denomination. I am learning many wonderful and challenging things and look forward to sharing more with you in the future.
This week in worship, we will be celebrating World Communion Sunday. In addition to lifting up the truth that the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper connects us to Christians across the globe, World Communion Sunday also reminds the church of the importance of reaching out to all people and to model diversity among God’s children. As part of this time together, we will have a special offering that goes to support the United Methodist Ethnic Scholarship Program and the UM Ethnic In-Service Training Program.
After worship, we will enjoy another special annual tradition, the Blessing of the Animals. Feel free to drop by anytime between Noon and 1pm with your pet, big or small! I look forward to meeting those special members of your family and hope you will invite your neighbors and friends to bring their pets for a blessing as well.
Wishing you a peace-filled weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
In Joy and Hope,
Luke
