Dear Mt. Tam Church,
This Sunday, we will be examining the first event that takes place after the baptism of Jesus as recorded in Mark 1:9-15. It is in this piece of scripture that we witness Jesus’ own period of trial and solitude in the wilderness.
Our time together will explore how Jesus’ experience in the wilderness is not just a story of endurance but symbolizes a significant period of self-reflection, identity formation, and transformation. It’s a powerful reminder that our own ‘wilderness’ experiences, though challenging, are not merely obstacles to overcome but opportunities to define who we are and strengthen our faith.
As we prepare to come together in worship, let us strive to open our hearts in a way that embraces change and personal growth. May this season of Lent be a time where we reflect on our own lives, recognizing the wilderness we may be navigating, and finding ways to emerge more resilient, defined, and faithful.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Take Care,
Pastor Luke
