Dear Mt. Tam Church,
Greetings to you during this time after Thanksgiving! I trust that each of you had a
peaceful day as we all reflect on the many things that we are grateful for. As we
continue in the spirit of gratitude, I’m excited to share with you some details about our upcoming Sunday worship service.
This week’s service holds a special significance in the liturgical calendar as we celebrate Reign of Christ Sunday. It is a time when we recognize that the way of Jesus is more powerful than the way of Caesar. In a world that often seeks power through force and domination, we come together to affirm that Christ’s reign is
marked by love, justice, and compassion. It’s a timely reminder that the values of the kingdom of God stand in stark contrast to the values of the world.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and in alignment with the compassionate nature of Christ’s reign, we have a wonderful opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of those in need. This Sunday, we invite you to bring a special offering above and beyond your normal giving. This special offering will be dedicated to supporting the Marin County Food Bank, an organization that plays a crucial role in addressing hunger in our community.
If, for any reason, you are unable to join us in person on Sunday, we welcome you to mail in a check or drop one off at the church office during the week. Please make sure to write “Food bank offering”in the memo line so that we can ensure your generous contribution goes directly to this important cause.
As we quickly approach the season of Advent, may our worship and our giving be a reflection of the light and love that Christ brings into the world. Let us come together in unity and compassion, recognizing the power of Christ’s reign to transform lives and communities.
I look forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday as we celebrate the Reign of Christ and extend our gratitude through acts of generosity.
Blessings,
Pastor Luke
