Dear Mt. Tam Church,
Grace and peace to you all. This Sunday, we stand on the threshold of a
profound moment in the liturgical calendar—Transfiguration Sunday.
I warmly invite you and your loved ones to join us in worship as we
explore the mystery and majesty of this sacred story that is contained in
our scriptures.
Our service will be centered around Mark 9:2-9, a passage that unveils
the transfiguration of Jesus. This moment, where heaven touches earth,
offers us a glimpse into the future glory of God’s kingdom. It is a
reminder that, even in our everyday lives, we are surrounded by the
sacred, by those thin places where the divine becomes palpably near.
Our theme for the sermon will delve into how the transfiguration event
challenges us to live in the tension of the now and not yet. We will
reflect on the ways in which we are called to embody the values of God’s
coming kingdom in our present journey, guided by the hope and promise
of what is yet to come.
As we gather this Sunday, let us come with open hearts and minds, ready
to experience the meaning behind this mysterious story of scripture.
Take Care,
Pastor Luke
P.S. This Wednesday, February 14 th , we will be having a simple yet
meaningful Ash Wednesday service in the sanctuary that goes form
6:30-7:15pm. As a part of the service, there will be the imposition of
Ashes. I hope you will consider joining me as we begin the Lenten
season in this traditional and meaningful way.
