Dear Friends,
There is A LOT going on at Mt. Tam Church in the next few days. Here are 4 things that you won’t want to miss:
1) This weekend in worship, we will be celebrating ALL SAINTS SUNDAY. In our tradition, all of those friends and family members who embraced love and faith in their life are considered saints. Therefore, you are invited to bring a photo of a saint who has passed away and whose influence lives on in your life and the world. At the beginning of worship, you will be invited to bring that photo to the Altar. We will have a cork board up front for any photos you’d like to “pin” to it with a thumbtack. Smaller framed photos are welcomed as well and can be placed on the altar during this time. If for whatever reason you don’t want to bring up the photo during worship, you can arrive 5-10 minutes before the service and have the photo placed ahead of time.
2) This Sunday also marks our annual STEWARDSHIP PLAN-FOR- GIVING DEDICATION. This is the time when you can place your 2024 plan-for-giving card (mailed out earlier this week) in the plate during our offertory. A special litany of dedication will then take place so that we can invite God to partner with us in our planned financial giving for 2024. If for any reason you didn’t receive a Plan-For-Giving commitment card, we will have them available in the narthex before worship starts. Also, if you can’t make it in-person this week, you are invited to mail-in or drop off your card with the church office.
3) On Sunday evening at 5pm, Rev. Norma Jean Powell will be leading a special CANDLELIGHT LABYRINTH WALK rooted in the Celtic tradition of celebrating the Harvest season. This is a simple yet meaningful ritual to give thanks for the abundance of God’s creation. In recognition of the abundance that we have been given, you are invited to bring a canned food item to the walk that will be donated to the Marin Food Bank.
4) On Monday evening at 7pm, the Rev. Michael Yoshii will be giving an INFORMATIONAL TALK ON ISRAEL AND PALESTINE. For many years Rev. Yoshii has been a leader in our Methodist connection when it comes to justice work with Palestinians living in the West Bank. This will be a great opportunity to be in discussion with someone who has journeyed closely with many people who call Israel and Palestine home.
I hope to see you at all of these meaningful experiences! May we give thanks to God for all of the important things happening in the life of Mt. Tam Church!
Take care,
Luke
