Dear Friends,
As we gather together for worship on the third Sunday in this liturgical season of Advent, we will be continuing our sermon series “The Characters of Christmas” by looking at a character you are probably very familiar with: Mary, the mother of Jesus.
As we take a closer look at Mary, her life, and her response to the Angel Gabriel’s declaration that she would give birth to Jesus, we will have the opportunity to reflect on how God uses both ordinary people (for lack of a better term) and extraordinary people to accomplish works of hope, peace, joy and love in the world.
On a personal note, I want to share how wonderful it was to experience “Santa’s Workshop” last Sunday with the children of our congregation. As both a Pastor and Parent, it was such a joy to witness our young people making gifts for their family and friends. Please make sure to scroll down on this email to see pictures from the event.
Finally, I’d like to wrap things up by sharing that during the Children’s moment this Sunday, we will be decorating the Christmas tree in the sanctuary with some special ornaments (known as Chrismons). It would be great to have as many children in our congregation as possible to participate in this, so if you have young children, I encourage you to talk with them in advance about how we would love for them to come up during that part of the service and join us in decorating the tree.
Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you soon!
In Hope, Peace and Joy,
Luke
