Greetings Mt. Tam Church!
Over the past few weeks, some of you have asked me how the people of our congregation can support those affected by the earthquakes in the Middle East/Asia, the war in Ukraine and all of the flooding here in California. The Answer is by giving to UMCOR (the United Methodist Committee on Relief).
UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church. It provides aid to people affected by natural or human-made disasters, assists in sustainable development, and provides support for refugees and displaced persons. UMCOR’s work reaches people in more than 80 countries, making it one of the most far-reaching and effective relief organizations in the world.
Through our support of UMCOR, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. Our contributions can provide food, shelter, clean water, and medical care to those who have experienced devastation and loss. By giving to UMCOR, we demonstrate our commitment to living out our faith through service and compassion.
This Sunday, March 19th, is the day that UMCOR encourages all United Methodist congregations to support this important work.
In addition to your regular giving to MTUMC, we invite you to prayerfully consider making a donation to UMCOR this week. Your generosity can help make a significant impact in the lives of those who are suffering.
If you feel led to give, please make checks payable to MTUMC and make sure to write “UMCOR” in the memo line or on the envelope containing your gift.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Take care,
Luke
