Dear Mt. Tam Church,
This coming Sunday is a special Sunday in the life of our church (Indeed all Sundays are special!) – we’re having an Intergenerational Worship Service. That means that kids, youth, and adults will all be in worship together and that though we’ll still have a sermon, a portion of that time will be for a creative activity (Don’t worry, you don’t have to be an artist!!) and will allow for both personal meditation and reflection and for interacting with others around us. As we’re nearing Halloween, we might have frightful things on our minds, things that scare us or cause us worry (even if we have a little fun with it – I’ve already made my costume for the Halloween gatherings I’ll be attending!). This Sunday, we’ll counter our fears and worries with a reminder from the Apostle Paul to focus our minds on what is good and lovely and noble and to combat our anxiety through prayer. I hope that you’ll all join us (young ones, teens, adults of all ages) because it’s always good to be reminded of what is good in the world and to pray together. And as Paul says, when we pray and we think about what is good, the God of peace will be with us. Now, I believe that God is with us all the time, but when we pray and think about the good, we notice God and God’s peace more and more. And who, regardless of our age, couldn’t use some of that?!
See you Sunday!
